FIFTH GENERATION - SILAS HILLIARD

163. Eva Lee Clough (Helen Sophronia Isabel Mars Hilliard-4, Cuyler Walter-3, Gen. Thomas-2, Silas-1) was born on August 25, 1871 in Ware Co, Ga. She died on November 11, 1943.

She was married to Virgil Cady Parker on January 26, 1890. Virgil Cady Parker was born on November 28, 1870 in Willacoochee, GA. He died WFT Est. 1918-1962. Eva Lee Clough and Virgil Cady Parker had the following children:

FIFTH GENERATION - JOHN CHANDLER

5. James, Sr. Chandler (Joseph, Sr.-4, Robert-3, Robert-2, John-1) was born in 1734 in Goochland, Virginia. He died in 1808 in Newberry, South Carolina. Event: 1 1750 Moved with his father from Goochland to Lunenburg, Virginia
Event: 2 Served at Pvt and then Sgt in the SC Militia under Col. Waters after the fall of Charleston.

He was married to Susannah Unknown about 1755 in Lunenburg, Virginia. Susannah Unknown was born about 1735 in Virginia. James, Sr. Chandler and Susannah Unknown had the following children:

+12 i. Shadrick Chandler (born about 1757).

6. John , Sr Chandler (Joseph, Sr.-4, Robert-3, Robert-2, John-1) was born about 1726 in King William, Virginia. He died in 1803.

4. Joseph, Sr. Chandler (Robert-3, Robert-2, John-1) was born between 1695 and 1699 in St Peter’s Parish, New Kent, Virginia. He died in October 1764.

Joseph, Sr. Chandler and Sarah had the following children:

+5 i. James, Sr. Chandler (born in 1734).
+6 ii. John , Sr Chandler (born about 1726).
+7 iii. Joel Chandler (born about 1727).
+8 iv. William , Sr Chandler (born about 1729).

THIRD GENERATION - SILAS HILLIARD

7. Captain Cuyler Walter Hilliard (Gen. Thomas-2, Silas-1) was born on November 25, 1825 in Ware Co. or Bulloch Co., Ga.. He died on April 12, 1903 in Waycross, Ware Co, GA. He was buried in Kettle Creek Cemetery, Waycross, Ga.. Founder of Hilliard, Florida

Cuyler Walter Hilliard was an officer of the Confederacy before entering into the timber business in the late 1800s. As his business grew, so did a town, which would bear his name, Hilliard, Florida.

Cuyler Walter Hilliard was born in Bulloch County, Georgia November 25, 1825, son of General Thomas Hilliard and Delilah Wilkinson. He came with his father to Ware County, Georgia and was married there July 27, 1848 to Theresa Hargraves.

Cuyler Hilliard served as a private in the Indian War in Captain John S Henderson’s Company of Ware County Militia Aug. 25 to Oct. 18, 1840, and as a private under Captain James A Sweat’s Company of Ware County militia, Oct 6 to Dec 3, 1841. He was 2nd Lieutenant of the militia 451st district of Ware County, 1849-1853. He was Justice of the Peace 1850-53; Justice of Ware Inferior Court, 1853-56.

Event: 2 BET. 1647 - 1648 Member House of Burgesses
Event: 3 Justice of the Elizabeth City County Court

Arrived in Virginia in 1906 as a boy of nine on the ship HERCULES

In 1623/24, he was a single man living in Elizabeth City. The corporation of Elizabeth City, origonally the burrough of Kiccoughton, was settled about 1610 by a group from Jamestown. Today it is the city of Hamption, Virginia.
