I once saw a letter on this site from a Elizabeth (Boo) O’Sullivan Henry Simon who told of her great Aunt visiting harrisonburg. Really interesting. I am pretty sure there was a Purcell connection of some kind even if it was only friendship as my parents mentioned that name often. That letter mentions the Lamms, a name which I have heard although I thought it was Lamb. It also mentions Father Rankin of whom I have heard. Our knowledge agrees with Sullivan's from sw Ireland. We are pretty sure it is County Kerry. A relative (distant) has written a book describing the Irish connection and we had a reunion in Harrisonburg 2 yrs ago with one planned in Ireland this yr. About 30 from Ireland came 2 yrs ago and maybe 150 from US, mostly VA. I am related to the Harrisonburg Sullivan family. I am a great-grandson of Thomas Crudden 1832-1901. He left Ireland as an orphan at age 15 and stayed in Philadelphia. He married Catherine O'Rourke 1831-1875.
